This exciting event is the brainchild of Dr Martin Cook who has brought together two distinguished Shrewsbury choirs, Shrewsbury Choral and Shrewsbury Cantata Choir, as Shrewsbury Festival Chorus, to perform Mendelssohn's magnificent Oratorio 'Elijah'. The Festival Chorus of approximately 85 singers + soloists will be accompanied by a full orchestra of 42 players. Our idea is that this will grow into a prestigious annual Music Festival event for Shrewsbury. This year we have just one concert but our hope is that this is the start of something great where we will be able to bring lots of the wider community, including children and young people, into a Music Festival weekend.
