Shrewsbury Town Council’s new and improved key play scheme is now open to members of the public.
The scheme allows Shrewsbury residents access to sporting facilities that are not normally manned or available for public use during the day, via a combination lock.
Previously, access had been via a gate key which required a £10 deposit. As access is now via a key code, deposits are no longer required.
The facilities and locations included in the scheme are; Monkmoor Recreation Ground – three tarmac tennis courts, Silks Meadow – two grass tennis courts and one crown green, Saint Michaels Recreation Ground – one grass tennis court and All Saints – three grass tennis courts and two crown greens.
Access varies depending on location.
The facilities at Monkmoor are available from April until March 2017, Monday to Friday 10am until 4pm and weekends 10am until dusk.
Access to all other sites is from April to September, daily from 10am until dusk.
The cost for the season is £45 per applicant. Up to three guests are also permitted access to the facilities.
Only one application per household and persons under the age of 16 must have parental consent to apply.

At a cost of £45 for the entire season, which now includes year-round access at Monkmoor Recreation Ground, this represents excellent value for money.”
