Generous gardeners attending the Shrewsbury in Bloom Greenhouse Open Evening at the end of last month helped to raise a fantastic £315.00 for the Lingen Davies Ruby Appeal.
With over 200 people enjoying a behind the scenes tour of the Town Council’s greenhouse facilities at Weeping Cross, the Shrewsbury in Bloom Committee also held a raffle on the night.
Prizes for the six lucky winners included two planters and a hanging basket, with plants supplied by Shrewsbury Town Council, a hamper kindly donated by Committee member Margaret Thrower and two £20 vouchers for Love Plants donated by Bloom Committee Member Tony Bywater.
Chairman of Shrewsbury in Bloom, Councillor Keith Roberts, said: “We are proud to be able to support such a vital local charity with this donation from our Greenhouse Open Evening last week. The Shrewsbury in Bloom Committee decided to support the Lingen Davies Ruby Appeal in its 40th year, which helps to make a positive difference in our local community to those affected by cancer.
“We have had such positive feedback from people coming along on the evening and I would like to thank everyone for their generosity at our annual event.”
