The staff and residents at Mount House & Severn View Care home would like to formally request the attendance of Mayor Becky Wall at their ‘Blitz and Glitz’ Gala Dinner on 6th November, 2023.
Following conversations with our residents about what they would like to do they requested we host an early evening event, one that they could invite their loved ones to and get 'glammed up' just like they did after the war.
Our Head Chef, local lady Charlotte Mulloy has created a special 3 course menu (attached) and worked with the whole home team to plan a dinner to take place around bonfire night, with fireworks to represent the end of war celebrations and music of the era in the lead up to Remembrance Day.
Charlotte placed a Facebook call out on the ‘Random acts of kindness – Shrewsbury’ site and it’s become a true community spirited event with students from Shrewsbury College Group; Hair & Beauty Training Academy offering to provide the hair and make-up of all our residents, and we’ll have Blue Navy Photography on hand to capture each guest in their finery.
Jenny’s Catering are providing all the crockery alongside Shrewsbury Castle donating the use of their Champagne flutes. We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of others in supporting the home to make this event one to remember, the wine and local cheeses will be provided by Morrison’s and the firework display is courtesy of Danny Jones Drives and Landscaping.
Our residents and staff would love to welcome the Mayor of Shrewsbury to attend the event and walk the red carpet (donated by Lucy Wagner from the Darwin Centre) and join us for what is going to be a magical occasion for our residents. On the war theme our guests will be entertained by vintage 1940’s signer ‘Bertie Blighty’ a favourite of the home and our residents.
The sit-down meal servings start at 4pm with guest arriving from 3:30pm for a champagne reception with home manager Coral Edwards. The event will be attended by our residents and around 10 family members totalling 46 covers with planned finish time of 7.30pm.
