  • 13HIGHWAY MATTERS

    Steve Brown (Highways & Environmental Maintenance Manager) and Matt Johnson (Transport Commissioner) are to attend the meeting to discuss the following areas of concern which have been highlighted by members of the council:

    The recent decision of Shropshire Council not to support a county-wide “Twenty Is Plenty” campaign

    The development of the Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Plan and the need to understand the bigger picture rather than comment on piecemeal projects

    The effectiveness of the Sites of Road Safety Concern Programme and this particularly more so in light of a lot of projects in Shrewsbury raised through that Programme have now been removed from the Capital Programme following £5m cuts in Highways funding.

    The likelihood for funding for the North West Relief Road

    The likelihood and potential impact of closing the Harlescott Railway Crossing

    The bedding in of the Kier Contract

    (i)  In accordance with the Accounts & Audit Regulations 2011, Members are required to approve the following documents in readiness for submission to the External Auditor:

    (a)   Annual Report
    (b)   Statement of Accounting Policies
    (c)   Annual Governance Statement
    (d)   Income & Expenditure Account
    (e)   Statement of Movement of Reserves
    (f)   Balance Sheet

    (ii)    In accordance with the Accounts & Audit Regulations 2011, Members are required to approve the Annual Return, including

    (a)   Section 1 – Annual Governance Report for 2017/18
    (b)   Section 2 – Annual Accounting Statements for 2017/18

  • 15DARWIN STEERING GROUP

    To receive an update from Councillor Mackenzie regarding the setting up of the Darwin Steering Group and subsequently determine the level of support/input the Town Council shall give to the Group.

  • 16ARMED FORCES COVENANT

    To consider whether the Town Council would wish to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant.

  • 17TELEPHONE BOX ADOPTION

    The Shrewsbury Business Improvement District would like to adopt the Telephone Box in Castle Street for community installations and an information point, but only Local Authorities, Parish & Town Councils and Registered Charities can adopt them.  The BID has asked whether the Town Council might be amenable to adopting the Telephone Box on their behalf.
