1Election of Mayor for 2017/2018
(i) To be proposed & seconded:
“That Councillor JANE MACKENZIE be elected Mayor of Shrewsbury Town Council for the period up to the Annual Meeting of Shrewsbury Town Council in May 2018”
The Mayor shall read out and sign her Declaration of Acceptance of Office as Mayor of Shrewsbury
Civic Staff shall assist the Mayor in adorning her Mayoral Robe. The Outgoing Mayor & Mayoress hand over the Chains of Office to the Mayor & her Consort.
(ii) New Mayor’s Speech -
2Vote of Thanks to Retiring Mayor
(i) To be proposed and seconded:
“That Shrewsbury Town Council hereby expresses its sincere thanks to Councillor Ioan for the efficient, enthusiastic and impartial manner in which he discharged his duties as Mayor of Shrewsbury Town Council and that the Council also wishes to record its appreciation of the manner in which Mrs Sue Jones has contributed to the success of her husband’s Term of Office as his Mayoress.”
(ii) Presentation of Past Mayoral Badges & gifts to the Retiring Mayor and Mayoress by the Mayor & Consort -

4Election of Deputy Mayor for 2017/2018
(i) To be proposed and seconded:
“That Councillor PETER NUTTING be elected Deputy Mayor of Shrewsbury Town Council for the period up to the Annual Meeting of Council in May 2018”
The Deputy Mayor reads out and signs his Declaration of Acceptance of Office as Deputy Mayor of Shrewsbury.
The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress change places with the Retiring Mayor and Mayoress. Civic Staff assist the Deputy Mayor in adorning his Deputy Mayoral robes. The Mayor & Consort hand over the Chains of Office to the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress. -
5Outgoing Councillors
To be proposed and seconded:
“That the Mayor and Councillors of Shrewsbury Town Council hereby express their sincere thanks to the following Councillors who have not only provided service as a Town Councillor or Shropshire Councillor and some since 2009 but also in some cases as long and distinguished service as a Councillor with the former Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council. Such service having been given with commitment, compassion and a desire to enhance the wellbeing of the town and its community”

To be proposed and seconded:
“That Shrewsbury Town Council retains the following Committees and that the terms of reference of those Committees be adopted namely:
Finance and General Purposes Committee;
Recreation and Leisure Committee;
Planning Committee;

Personnel Committee;
Grievance Committee;
Youth Services Committee;
Joint Consultative Committee.”

“That acknowledging the elections for Shrewsbury Town Council and having cognisance of the criteria as defined in the Parish Councils (General Power of Competence) (Prescribed Conditions) Order 2012, Shrewsbury Town Council confirms its continued eligibility to use the General Power of Competence as set out in the Localism Act 2011”Attachments:
