The former Grange Youth Centre off Mount Pleasant Road has undergone a transformation over the last twelve months and is now ready to welcome the community when Shrewsbury Town Council and Young Shrewsbury host a relaunch event this Sunday.
With a new name of The Grange Centre and now run by the Town Council, the Relaunch Event on April 14 takes place between 10am and 4pm.
Adam Purnell, youth and community development officer for the Town Council, said: “There’s been a lot of work going on to get ready for the official relaunch of The Grange Centre and we’re thrilled to be able to invite the local community along on Sunday to see what we’ve been up to.
“There’s plenty of activities for people to enjoy at our free event, including arts and crafts activities, music production workshops and face painting. We’ve also got coffee and bacon baps from 10am until 11am and a BBQ from 12.30pm to 2pm.
“We hope that when people come into the building and see what a fantastic space it has become now, they will want to book it for their community events. The centre was a purpose-built youth centre and with the refurbishments we’ve undertaken, we hope that the wider community will realise that the building is available for everybody and that they can book it for their events.”
Staff from Caterpillar Defense also helped out last year as part of their annual community project when a team of staff took time out to paint the building. A new kitchen has also been installed.
The Relaunch Event will also provide an opportunity for the local community to meet the Young Shrewsbury team who will be on hand to help on the day.
