Also known as the ‘Tree Gang’, this team carries out maintenance on all of our tree stock. Shrewsbury Town Council has direct responsibility for around 100,000 trees across our sites. Many of these are beside properties, roads and footpaths, so require surveys and work to ensure they stay in a safe condition. Pruning work such as pollarding, coppicing, and crown reductions require specialist training, skills and equipment to carry out. As well as our own trees, we often carry out work on highways under the instruction of Tree Officers from Shropshire Council.
